What a mind-numbingly dull, boring, uninteresting film this was, and that's a surprise, cause all the elements are there to make a great film, but instead you get... this.
Jesse Eisenberg plays Michael Cerra circa 2006. It's 1987 for some reason (it has no bearing on the plot, and aside from some music and a shot of Reagan on TV you'd never know it), and he's getting ready to go to Europe before heading to college in NYC. His plans get sidetracked, he gets a job at an amusement park, and I fall slowly into a stupor.
I can't tell you how little I cared about the characters or their various problems, and for an alleged comedy this film yielded not even a single chuckle, snort, giggle or gufaw from me, though I did roll my eyes a lot and look at my watch.
There's nothing at all here to recommend this movie (well, aside from seeing Jesse Eisenberg in his underwear). It was one hour and 45 minutes of sheer, dull, boredom punctuated by even more boredom. Avoid. |
