Full Review:
“Idle Hands” stars Devan Sawa, Seth Green, Elden Henson, and Jessica Alba. It’s directed by Rodman Flender (The Unborn, Leprechaun 2) and written by Terri Hughes and Ron Milbauer, who usually write for television shows.

Anton (Devan Sawa) is a seventeen year old slacker who’s hand becomes possessed due to his laziness. His evil and demonic hand takes the life of his parents and his two smoking buddies Pnub and Mick (Seth Green and Elden Henson). Luckily Pnub and Mick come back from the dead to help his problems get solved. If the hand gets hold of Anton’s girlfriend before the clock strikes midnight, her soul will be sent to hell.

Silly but fun little slasher flick that mixes comedy well with some gross, but delightful moments. It does take lots from other teen horror movies, but it uses this borrowed material with lots of energy and spunk. The dialog may lack wit, but it still is undeniably campy entertainment. The jokes are mostly clever and the special effects are amusing. Actor Devan Sawa does first-class acting and the presence of Jessica Alba will satisfy many.

This type of work is right in director Rodman Flender’s line of work. Having previously worked with the sequel to the popular movie “Leprechaun”, this isn’t the first time he has mixed comedy with horror. This is Rodman Flender’s most enjoyable film, which really isn’t saying much. “Idle Hands” contains a decent amount of gore and a handful of laughs.

More funny than it is scary, but that is how most horror comedies level out. Not a great movie, but does deserve some credit for taking a reused material and making it feel fresh. A cast of well known who clearly have their tongue firmly wedged in their cheeks, desperately trying not to laugh during the shooting. This is one of guilty pleasures. An enjoyable comedy horror, but you have to be in the mood for campy fun. 3.5/5 stars
