This movie stars Nicolas Cage as Yuri Orlov, an immigrant from the Ukraine living in New York. He wants to make his mark on the world, to earn his fortune. He starts dealing guns and works his way up the ladder to eventually selling to war lords. Along the way he gets married to his dream girl, Ava Fontaine, played by Bridgette Moynahan. She doens't ask where his wealth comes from, and he never tells her specific details. Jared Leto plays his brother who goes into business with him until he gets hooked on drugs. Also rounding out the cast are an African war lord who he has business dealing with, and a government agent, Jack Valentine, who makes it his life's work to bring Yuri in. The movie is violent, and sad as well. Yuri sees arms dealings as his job and detaches himself from the human aspect, the masses who will be killed with his help. When his wife finally discovers the truth she is shocked and horrified. I find this hard to believe. She was married to him all those years and never really knew him? She didn't question why she never really know about his work? Or was she happy being rich and not knowing. Overall it is a pretty good movie. Interesting to look at how arms dealers work. Nicolas Cage did a good job with his character, as well as Jared Leto and Ethan Hawke.
