This movie is a remake of the 1969 film that starred Noel Coward, Michael Caine and Benny Hill, a laid back view of a quite elaborate robbery. The new Italian Job is also a laid back view but stars Mark Wahlberg (Marky Mark from Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch), Edward Norton (Fight Club), Seth Green (Austin Powers...Dr Evil's son) and a small part done by Donald Sutherland (Space Cowboys and father of the great Kiefer Sutherland).
If you like any of the actors mentioned, you'll really like this movie. There are many other characters involved than what I mentioned but basically it's all about a group who do this BIG heist and one of them turns on all the others and gets away with the loot and kills some of the members. The survivors regroup and go back for revenge and to get the gold back. It's action action action. If you go to the potty or grab a snack PAUSE IT...you just might miss something. :)
It's not much of a family movie unless the family is all over the age of 13, and can watch intense car chases, murder, vengeance and high volume thievery. Seth Green was, to me, the best one in the movie by far. It seemed to me he was the comedy relief, though there wasn't much of that. It's definitely an extreme action movie. I was very surprised they used the Mini Cooper's for the jobs, but it's a welcome change from The Fast and the Furious. |
