This movie makes great use of action and humor to create a nearly-family-friendly film that most will enjoy. Two hired assassins meet in Colombia during respective hits and act as a couple to avoid capture by Colombian "police"/military as they are questioning any 'tourists' that are there alone. They hit it off quite well and eventually they marry despite advisories of Eddie (played by Vince Vaughn) who is John Smiths best friend (who happens to be employed by the same boss as John). They earn themselves a big house with all the amenities, two brand new cars and all sorts of wicked firepower (which I might add are hidden from eachother).
Both John and Jane Smith have cover lives including false businesses to keep their hitperson careers a secret from eachother. For the most part it works out pretty well...until they both end up at the same hit with the same target.
This sets up some spectacular action scenes. Will they fight each other? Will love prevail? Will they attempt to get to tbe bottom of how they ended up at the same hit?
I know that I've already mentioned the action scenes but they deserve to be mentioned yet again. While perhaps one element of the final scene was not absolutely believable it's a hell of a ride. But the rest of the scenes are shot well enough that they are completely believable and they build up very well to the explosively climactic end.
Personally I can watch this movie at least once per month if not more. If you didn't catch it when it was in the theater, go out and rent it. If you live close enough to me, I'll even let you borrow mine! |
